José Mourinho has begun his second spell as Real Madrid manager with a clear objective. The Portuguese coach says he wants to strengthen the club’s culture of hard work, ambition and responsibility ahead of the new season.
Speaking after his first training session at Valdebebas, Mourinho described his return as a mission rather than just another coaching job. He said everyone at the club, from players to staff, must work together to maintain Real Madrid’s winning tradition.
The experienced manager believes success starts with the right mindset. He said discipline, commitment and teamwork will form the foundation of his project as he prepares the squad for the 2026/27 campaign.
Mourinho also plans to work closely with Real Madrid’s youth teams. He wants to create stronger links between the first team and the club’s academy while helping young players develop into future stars.
Although several senior players are still away on international duty, Mourinho sees the early weeks of pre-season as an opportunity to build relationships with the players available. He said every training session will help establish the standards he expects from the squad.
Real Madrid officially appointed Mourinho on a three-year contract until June 2029. Club president Florentino Pérez believes the former Champions League-winning coach can restore stability and return the Spanish giants to winning major trophies.
Los Blancos failed to win a major trophy in the last two seasons and Mourinho’s appointment has widely been viewed as President Florentino Perez trying to restore order and discipline to the dressing room.
The Portuguese manager previously coached Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning a La Liga title, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. Fans will now hope his return brings another successful era to the Santiago Bernabéu.
