Lagos Ready for Fourth Prime Atlantic Squash Tournament

Tournament Dates Confirmed in Lagos

The Lagos State Squash Association has confirmed the fourth edition of the Prime Atlantic Squash Tournament. The competition will run from June 22 to June 27. It will take place at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

According to officials, preparations are already complete. As a result, athletes from across Nigeria will gather for the event.

Falase Highlights Growth of Competition

Tomi Falase, who chairs the association, says the tournament has grown steadily. In addition, he describes it as one of Nigeria’s top squash events.

He expects a stronger field this year. Therefore, more elite players and young prospects will compete for honours.

Falase also praised the tournament’s role in sports development. In his words, it continues to support squash growth across Nigeria.

“The Prime Atlantic Squash Tournament continues to grow each year,” Falase said. “It supports the development of squash in Nigeria.”

Furthermore, he said this year’s edition will deliver exciting matches. He also expressed confidence in the discovery of new talent.

Grassroots Impact and Emerging Stars

In addition to elite competition, the tournament focuses on youth development. As a result, young athletes gain exposure on a national stage.

Falase noted that previous editions have produced breakthrough stars. For example, Yusuf Quadri stood out in an earlier tournament.

Quadri won both the senior men’s title and the Under-19 boys’ title. Consequently, his performance boosted interest in the sport.

Osimhen Transfer Speculation Addressed

Meanwhile, Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has dismissed rumours about Victor Osimhen leaving the club. He confirmed that the Turkish champions have no plans to sell the Nigerian striker.

Although several European clubs are monitoring Osimhen, Galatasaray remains firm. In contrast to speculation, the club insists he is not for sale.

Özbek explained that interest from top clubs is normal. However, he stressed that Galatasaray’s priorities come first.

“It is very natural for every successful player at Galatasaray to be on the radar of major European clubs,” Özbek said.

“Nevertheless, our priority is Galatasaray’s interests. Osimhen is a world-class player, and he is happy here. We have no intention to sell him.”

Strong Season Strengthens Osimhen’s Value

Osimhen enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 season. He scored 22 goals and added eight assists in 33 appearances.

As a result, he played a key role in Galatasaray’s fourth consecutive Süper Lig title. In addition, he helped the club reach the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

Although transfer rumours continue, Galatasaray insists he remains central to their plans for the future.
