Kwankwaso Secretly Supporting Tinubu - Sanusi Bature

The spokesperson of the Kano State Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, has alleged that former Kano State Governor  Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is indirectly working towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Sanusi Bature made the claim while appearing as a guest on Arise Television on Tuesday, where he discussed ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, recent political developments surrounding Kwankwaso and some of his loyalists suggest a hidden strategy aimed at strengthening Tinubu’s chances of securing a second term in office.

He stated that many politicians who previously worked with Kwankwaso under the NNPP had now parted ways with him and were aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he described as part of a broader political arrangement benefiting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sanusi Bature alleged that the emerging political movements were “Tinubu’s re-election project in disguise,” though he did not provide direct evidence to support the claim.

He explained that political activities ahead of 2027 have continued to generate competing narratives and suspicions among major political actors across the country.

The Kano governor’s spokesperson further suggested that certain interactions and alignments within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape could indicate subtle cooperation between rival blocs, stressing however that the claims remain part of ongoing political discussions rather than confirmed facts.

The remarks come amid increasing political consultations, defections and coalition talks among opposition figures seeking to reposition ahead of the next presidential election.

Neither Kwankwaso nor the Presidency had officially responded to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
