I Don’t Chase Excess Wealth — Aminu Masari

Former Governor of Katsina state  Aminu Bello Masari has stated that he has never been driven by the desire to accumulate wealth beyond what is necessary to care for himself and his family.

Masari made the remark while reflecting on his personal values and approach to public service, stressing that contentment has always guided his lifestyle.

According to the former Katsina State governor, he does not own rental properties because all the houses he has are strictly for personal use.

“I don’t desire wealth beyond what can take care of me and my family. That is why I don’t even own rental houses  all my houses are for my personal use,” he said.

The former governor noted that public office should not be seen as an avenue for personal enrichment, but rather as an opportunity to serve the people with integrity and accountability.

His comments have sparked conversations on leadership, modest living and the expectations Nigerians place on public office holders.

Masari served as governor of Katsina State from 2015 to 2023 and remains a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political space.
