The Chairman of Gombe Local Government Area, Prof. Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa, has congratulated and honoured Nuhu Muhammad for his outstanding performance at the recently concluded Sheikh Ali Al-Khuzaifi Qira’at Award 2026 held in Kano State.

Nuhu Muhammad emerged first position in the second category of the prestigious Qur’anic competition, which focused on the memorisation of the Holy Qur’an according to ten different styles of Qira’at, commonly known as Qira’atul Ashara Sugra.

The achievement has been described as a significant milestone for Gombe Local Government Area and the state, particularly in promoting excellence in Qur’anic memorisation and recitation among young people.

Speaking on the competition, the Coordinator of the Sheikh Ali Al-Khuzaifi Qira’at Award, Gombe State Chapter, Goni Abubakar Sadiq Bala, explained that the competition was held in Kano and represented the fourth edition of the prestigious Qur’anic recitation contest since its establishment in Nigeria.

According to him, the competition is designed not only to test participants’ knowledge and mastery of different Qira’at but also to encourage a deeper understanding and appreciation of Qur’anic recitation among Muslims.

He said the primary objective of the Sheikh Ali Al-Khuzaifi Qira’at Award Foundation is to promote and spread knowledge of Qur’anic Qira’at among the Muslim Ummah.

He added that the foundation also seeks to nurture discipline, good character, moral values and dedication among Muslim youths through Qur’anic education.

Prof. Garkuwa, while recognising Nuhu Muhammad’s achievement, commended him for bringing honour and recognition to Gombe Local Government and Gombe State through his impressive performance.

The council chairman encouraged the young Qur’anic scholar to remain committed to the study, memorisation and teaching of the Holy Qur’an.

He also urged him to maintain discipline and good character while serving as a positive example and source of inspiration to younger generations.

The chairman’s recognition comes as Qur’anic education continues to play an important role in the social and religious development of communities across Northern Nigeria.

For Gombe State, Nuhu Muhammad’s success provides another example of the growing achievements of its Qur’anic students and scholars in national competitions.

His first-place finish in the second category, particularly in a competition involving the memorisation of the Qur’an across ten Qira’at styles, highlights the level of dedication, discipline and specialised knowledge required to excel in the field.

The Sheikh Ali Al-Khuzaifi Qira’at Award has consequently continued to provide a platform for participants to demonstrate their knowledge and mastery of Qur’anic recitation while encouraging young Muslims to pursue excellence in Qur’anic studies.

Nuhu Muhammad’s achievement is therefore being celebrated not only as a personal accomplishment but also as a source of pride for his family, Gombe Local Government Area and Gombe State.

The recognition by Prof. Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa further underscores the importance of acknowledging and encouraging young people who distinguish themselves through education, discipline and commitment to Qur’anic knowledge.

As Nuhu Muhammad continues his Qur’anic studies, his achievement at the 2026 Sheikh Ali Al-Khuzaifi Qira’at Award is expected to inspire other young Qur’anic students in Gombe and beyond to pursue excellence and participate in similar competitions.

Congratulations to Nuhu Muhammad on the remarkable achievement. May Allah increase him in knowledge, wisdom and excellence, and make the Holy Qur’an a source of guidance and blessings for him, his family and the entire Ummah. Ameen.
