The Chairman of Gombe Local Government Area, Professor Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa, has inaugurated a new section of the cemetery following the exhaustion of the existing burial ground along Bajoga Road.

The newly inaugurated section is expected to provide additional burial space for residents, as preparations are underway to ensure the facility meets the necessary standards.
Speaking during the inauguration, Professor Garkuwa said the new cemetery would be equipped with essential facilities, including access roads, security infrastructure and water supply.
He added that the council would also employ additional personnel to oversee the cemetery’s maintenance and ensure proper management of the facility.
According to him, ongoing work at the site is aimed at ensuring that all necessary arrangements are completed to provide a well-maintained and properly managed burial ground.

The initiative follows the depletion of available burial space at the old cemetery, creating the need for an additional facility to accommodate future burials in Gombe metropolis.
