PDP State Chairmen Reaffirm Support for National Chairman After Court Ruling

The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing chairmen from 30 states, has reviewed the judgment delivered by the Federal High Court in Ibadan.

The Forum also examined the official position of the party as stated by the National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.

The Forum declared its full solidarity with the National Chairman and the National Working Committee (NWC).

It reaffirmed its support for the leadership produced by the Ibadan National Convention.

The Forum expressed concern over aspects of the court judgment. It noted that the court declined the party’s request for mandamus.

It also granted reliefs that were not requested by any party in the case.

According to the Forum, the ruling contradicts existing judgments from courts of equal jurisdiction. It described the situation as legally inconsistent and troubling.

The Forum welcomed the party’s decision to appeal the judgment. It confirmed that the PDP has filed motions seeking a stay of execution.

It said the move follows constitutional provisions and democratic principles.

The Forum aligned with the position of the NWC leadership. It said the ruling represents only one stage in the judicial process.

It added that the main issues remain before the Court of Appeal.

The Forum affirmed that the NWC formed at the Ibadan Convention remains the party’s lawful leadership.

It said the committee continues to enjoy the loyalty of PDP structures nationwide.

The Forum urged party members to remain calm and united. It said there is no leadership vacuum within the party. It stressed that there is no reason for panic.

The Forum recalled the PDP’s history of resilience. It said the party has overcome similar challenges in the past. It described the current situation as part of the democratic journey.

The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to rebuilding the PDP. It pledged to strengthen internal democracy and party unity.

It said the party remains focused on repositioning itself as a credible alternative.

The Forum said truth will ultimately prevail despite misinformation. It pledged continued support for the National Chairman and the NWC. It also reaffirmed loyalty to the party’s ideals.
