Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has distributed 600 motorcycles to social media influencers and digital content creators across the state to strengthen information dissemination and improve grassroots coverage of government activities.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed on Saturday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to the statement, the initiative is part of the state government’s efforts to empower digital media practitioners and enhance effective communication between the government and the people.
Governor Yusuf said the motorcycles would enable beneficiaries to move freely across communities to document and report government programmes, policies and development projects.
He described social media as a critical tool for shaping public opinion, promoting accountability and improving transparency in governance, noting that digital platforms have become central to modern information sharing.

The Governor urged beneficiaries to use the motorcycles responsibly and professionally, while adhering to ethical standards in their content creation and reporting.
He further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and media development, stressing that young people and information managers remain key partners in driving sustainable development in Kano State.
Some beneficiaries who received the motorcycles expressed appreciation to the Governor, describing the intervention as timely and impactful. They pledged to continue promoting government initiatives in a truthful, balanced and constructive manner.
