Nigeria’s Super Eagles have received a major financial boost ahead of the AFCON 2025 semi-finals, as CEO of BUA group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, announced a multimillion-dollar incentive following the team’s 2–0 victory over Algeria.
In a statement shared on his verified social media account on January 10, 2026, Rabiu congratulated the players for their impressive quarterfinal performance, describing the win as a moment that “lifted the spirit of the nation.”
He praised the team for restoring national pride and urged them to push harder as they prepare for the semi-final stage of the tournament.
To motivate the players further, Rabiu pledged $500,000 to the team if they win their semi-final match, with an additional $50,000 bonus for every goal scored in that game.
The incentive is aimed at sustaining momentum as Nigeria closes in on another continental title.
The business mogul went further, announcing an even bigger reward should the Super Eagles go on to lift the AFCON trophy.
According to his pledge, a $1,000,000 bonus awaits the team for winning the final, alongside an extra $100,000 for each goal scored in the championship match.
Bua concluded his message by wishing the players continued success, urging them to “keep making Nigeria proud” as they carry the hopes of millions of Nigerians into the decisive stages of the competition.
The pledge has been widely welcomed by fans and analysts, coming amid ongoing discussions about player motivation, welfare, and bonuses in Nigerian football.
As the Super Eagles march into the semi-finals, the financial backing adds both morale and expectation to their AFCON 2025 campaign.
