The National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dissolved its Kano State Executive Committee, along with all local government and ward leadership structures in the state.

The decision was announced on Friday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Oladipo Johnson, following an emergency meeting of the NWC.

The move comes amid strong indications that Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, is preparing to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The NWC said it would soon set up caretaker committees to oversee party affairs in Kano pending further directives.

Johnson stressed that the action was taken strictly in line with the provisions of the NNPP constitution.

He also said the leadership acted to safeguard the party’s integrity and ensure organisational stability during a period of internal political tension.
