Jigawa State Governor, Mallam Umar Namadi, on Wednesday signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, marking the conclusion of the legislative process and initiating the implementation phase of the state’s fiscal agenda for the new year.

Speaking after assenting to the bill, the Governor said the budget was shaped by extensive citizen consultations conducted across the 27 local government areas under the “Gwamnati Da Jama’a” (Government and the People) engagement initiative.

He explained that communities submitted written priority documents which guided the allocation of resources in the new budget.

“This budget may not be perfect, but it is sincere,” the Governor stated. “We listened to our people, reviewed their concerns, and reflected their priorities. By Allah’s grace, we will work to ensure the promises here become visible results across Jigawa.”

Governor Namadi also commended the State House of Assembly, the Executive Council, and civil servants for what he described as “long hours and careful work” in preparing the budget.

He reiterated that the focus of the 2026 fiscal year is to deliver impact-driven projects aimed at addressing education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic stability.

The signing of the bill signals the start of full-scale implementation as the state prepares to roll out programmes tied to governance reforms, public participation, and social investment.
