The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to building an inclusive, sustainable, and innovation-driven digital economy.

Speaking at the NORDIC Nigeria Connect held in Lagos, Inuwa said Nigeria’s digital awakening is charting a path toward unlocking opportunities for millions through technology, innovation, and human capital development.

He explained that the country’s digital ambition is anchored on two key pillars — a shared digital backbone comprising fibre optics, green data centres, and sovereign cloud services, and an operational backbone powering digital public infrastructure such as identity, payments, and data exchange systems.

According to him, the ultimate goal of Nigeria’s digital transformation is to empower citizens with access to opportunities and enable government and businesses to deliver seamless digital services in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Highlighting flagship initiatives such as the National Digital Literacy Framework, Digital Literacy for All Initiative, and the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme, Inuwa said NITDA is nurturing a new generation of Nigerians equipped to thrive in the global digital economy.

He also underscored the importance of partnerships between Nigeria and the Nordic region, noting that collaboration in innovation, talent development, and investment will accelerate sustainable digital growth.

The NORDIC Nigeria Connect convened policymakers, innovators, and industry leaders to strengthen bilateral cooperation and explore opportunities for inclusive digital advancement between Nigeria and the Nordic countries.
