The Chairman of Gombe Local Government Area, Prof. Abdullahi Bappah Ahmed Garkuwa, has visited Tudun Hatsi in Gombe to address concerns surrounding plans to relocate the community to a new site provided by the government.

The visit, which took place on October 12, 2027, brought together the council chairman, a commissioner, officials of the Ministry of Industries, the Divisional Operations Officer (DOP) of Gombe Division and the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) at the Police Headquarters.

During the visit, Prof. Garkuwa held discussions with leaders of Tudun Hatsi to understand their concerns and find a common ground on the proposed relocation.

He explained that the government had provided a temporary site where the affected residents could continue their activities while arrangements were being made to secure a permanent location for them in the near future.

The presence of security officials, according to a statement by Sadiq Salama, Special Assistant on New Media to the Gombe Local Government Chairman, was part of efforts to ensure mutual understanding and a peaceful, orderly implementation of the relocation plan.

The discussions ended with an agreement between the parties to commence the relocation process to the new site designated for the community.

The engagement highlights the importance of cooperation between government authorities, community leaders and security agencies in resolving community-related challenges through dialogue and mutual understanding.
