AFRIMA OPENS ENTRY SUBMISSIONS FOR 10TH EDITION

The All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, in partnership with the African Union, will open entries for its 10th edition on October 11, 2026.

The submission window will remain open until January 10, 2027.

The 10th AFRIMA will take place from May 18 to 23, 2027, in Lagos, Nigeria. The awards will recognise artistes and music professionals from across Africa and the Diaspora.

AFRIMA will accept entries across 40 award categories. The categories cover Africa’s five regions and several music genres.

Eligible entrants include artistes, songwriters, producers, video directors, DJs, dancers and choreographers.

Record labels and music executives can also submit their work. Unrecorded artistes of African origin living in Africa or the Diaspora can participate as well.

AFRIMA will consider works released or produced between August 10, 2025, and January 10, 2027.

Applicants must submit their entries through the official AFRIMA website. The organisers will not accept submissions sent by email or through other platforms.

Applicants must complete the online registration form and provide working links to their music or videos.

They can submit audio and video through platforms such as YouTube and SoundCloud.

The entry form is available in English, French, Swahili, Arabic and Portuguese. A Spanish translation is also available.

The call for entries follows a record 10,717 submissions for the ninth edition of the awards.

The figure highlights the growing interest in AFRIMA among music professionals across Africa and the Diaspora.

AFRIMA International Jury member for Eastern Africa, Lucy Ilado of Kenya, urged emerging artistes to take advantage of the opportunity.

She also advised applicants to study the categories carefully before submitting their work.

According to Ilado, accurate information and working links will help ensure that entries go through the screening and adjudication process smoothly.

AFRIMA International Jury member for Southern Africa, Adam Tiran of South Africa, also encouraged music professionals to submit their work.

He said Africa’s music industry continues to evolve through new sounds, collaborations and emerging artistes.

Tiran urged entrants to showcase work that reflects the present and future of African music.

AFRIMA launched in 2013 through a partnership between its International Executive Committee and the African Union.

Since then, the awards have become a major platform for celebrating African music, culture and creative talent.

AFRIMA’s broadcast reaches audiences in more than 84 countries around the world.
