Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke, working with the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes, have rescued seven kidnap victims from a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to a statement by the Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu, the victims were rescued following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected kidnappers operating around Amla-Icho, Ogobia and Anpekchi communities on Monday, September 14, 2026.
The troops, alongside police personnel and local security partners, launched an intelligence-led search and rescue operation in the affected areas.
The suspected kidnappers fled into the surrounding terrain after sighting the advancing security team, abandoning the victims.
The troops immediately secured the area and rescued the seven victims from the enclave.
A vehicle allegedly linked to the criminal operation was also recovered and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.
The command noted that the successful operation demonstrated the troops’ swift response to credible intelligence while commending the police and local vigilantes for their support during the operation.
Operation Whirl Stroke also urged residents to continue providing security agencies with credible and timely information.
