Disney star Carla Jeffery, known for playing Bree in the Zombies film franchise, has died at the age of 33.
Her manager, Carla Alexander, announced her death on social media. Alexander described Jeffery as a talented actress whose bright personality touched many people.
“Carla was more than a client; she was family,” Alexander wrote in a tribute. She also asked fans to respect Jeffery’s family and loved ones as they mourn her death.
Jeffery was born on July 10, 1993, in Houston, Texas. She started acting at the age of 12 and built a career across film and television.
Her early acting credits included Phat Girlz, iCarly, Miss Guided, Southland, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Men of a Certain Age, Good Luck Charlie and Shake It Up.
Jeffery gained wider recognition as Bree, a cheerful cheerleader at Seabrook High, in Disney’s Zombies franchise. She appeared in all three films and later voiced Bree in Zombies: The Re-Animated Series.
The cause of Carla Jeffery’s death remains unknown.
Jeffery had previously spoken openly about her experience with epilepsy. She said she began having seizures at 18 and initially feared the condition could affect her acting career.
In a 2022 interview with the Epilepsy Foundation, Jeffery recalled having a seizure while filming Zombies. She later chose to speak publicly about epilepsy and encouraged others to pursue their dreams despite disabilities.
“I want everyone to know not to be scared of who you are,” Jeffery said at the time.
The actress also spoke about the impact of her role on young Black girls. In a 2025 interview, she recalled seeing young fans dress up as Bree after watching Zombies.
Jeffery said the experience made her realise that young girls saw her as an inspiration. She also expressed her desire to continue encouraging them through her work.
Carla Jeffery’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans who remember her for her role as Bree and her positive message about living with epilepsy and following her dreams.
