Troops Rescue Six Kidnap Victims In Kebbi

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six kidnapped victims during a gun battle with terrorists in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force, North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.

He stated that the victims were rescued on Wednesday following credible intelligence on suspected terrorist activity around Mehinua village, along the Wasagu-Ayu Road.

The troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force, North-West, swiftly mobilised to the area after receiving the information and engaged the terrorists.

The military said the troops’ “prompt intervention” forced the terrorists to flee, leaving the victims behind.

“Troops successfully rescued the six kidnapped victims unharmed,” the statement said.

The rescued victims and the vehicle were later handed over to the relevant community authorities for further action.

Danja said the rescue operation demonstrated the troops’ determination to protect the lives and property of residents across the Joint Operations Area.

He further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost.
