A new chapter in cultural diplomacy has begun as the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the China Movie Channel (CMC) signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening media collaboration between Nigeria and China.
The agreement was signed during the China-Nigeria Film and Literature Symposium held at the China Cultural Centre in Abuja, under the theme “From Word to Screen: The Power of Story.”
The symposium brought together filmmakers, writers, scholars, cultural practitioners and media stakeholders from both countries to explore how literature and film can foster mutual understanding and stronger interpersonal connections.
As part of the partnership, both broadcasters will exchange film content, giving Nigerian and Chinese audiences greater access to each other’s stories, cultures and creative industries.
Stakeholders described the collaboration as a major opportunity for emerging filmmakers, noting that it could provide Nigerian creatives with international exposure, knowledge exchange and new opportunities for growth.
The event concluded with a special screening of the Chinese kung fu film Blades of the Guardians, symbolizing the shared commitment of both nations to using storytelling as a bridge between cultures.
As Nigeria and China deepen creative cooperation, the partnership signals a promising future where stories transcend borders, inspire innovation and bring people closer together.
