Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, says the state’s permanent National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp will be ready for the next batch of corps members.
The governor gave the assurance on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch B, Stream II corps members in Damare, Girei Local Government Area. Dr. Edgar Amos, the Chief of Staff, represented the governor at the event.
Work on the permanent orientation camp has reached an advanced stage, according to the governor. He expressed confidence that the next batch of corps members will begin their orientation at the new facility. He said the new camp will provide a better environment for training and other activities.
Fintiri also reaffirmed his support for the NYSC scheme in Adamawa State. He promised to continue paying the state’s monthly ₦30,000 allowance to corps members serving in Adamawa. He said the government values the role of corps members in education, healthcare, agriculture and other sectors.
According to him, corps members continue to make important contributions to communities across the state. He urged them to obey the law, respect the customs of their host communities and promote peace and unity wherever they serve. He also encouraged them to carry out community development projects that will improve the lives of residents.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Wali Yakubu, congratulated the corps members on their successful mobilisation. He also chairs the Adamawa NYSC Governing Board. Yakubu urged them to participate actively in every camp activity. He encouraged them to build friendships across ethnic and religious groups. He assured them that the state government would continue to provide a safe and conducive environment throughout their service year.
The Adamawa NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Caroline Chinedu, said 1,520 corps members registered for the 2026 Batch B, Stream II orientation exercise. She said the group includes 779 males and 741 females. Chinedu praised the corps members for showing discipline and enthusiasm since the orientation programme began.
However, she appealed to the state government to solve the electricity challenge at the orientation camp. The camp currently depends on generators. She said the situation has affected water supply, sanitation and other essential services.
ustice Abbas Adamu represented the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman. He administered the oath of allegiance. The ceremony officially inaugurated the 2026 Batch B, Stream II orientation course in Adamawa.
