The Director of Media and Public Affairs of the Labour Party in Benue State, Comrade Aluh Moses Odeh, has said the people of Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo (Enone) Federal Constituency made the right decision by electing Dr. Philip Agbese to represent them in the House of Representatives in the 2023 general elections.
Aluh stated this in a press statement issued through the office of Hon. Ibrahim Sani, Special Assistant to the Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Dr. Philip Agbese.
He described the election of Agbese as a historic turning point for the constituency, noting that it ended 24 consecutive years of representation by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to him, the achievements recorded by the lawmaker within his first three years in office have justified the confidence reposed in him by the people of Enone.
“The people of Enone made a sound and historic decision in 2023 by electing Dr. Philip Agbese. The mandate entrusted to him is one he has carried with humility, dedication and an unwavering commitment to effective representation,” Aluh said.
He maintained that effective representation should not be judged by political rhetoric alone but by visible projects, accessibility to constituents, legislative contributions and interventions that positively impact the lives of the people.
“Enone voters never made a mistake by voting for Dr. Philip Agbese in 2023. They made a decision based on hope, trust and the belief that our people deserved purposeful representation. The responsibility of the mandate has been to justify that confidence through service and measurable impact,” he said.
Aluh acknowledged that leadership is a continuous process and that no public office holder is without shortcomings. He, however, commended the people of the constituency for their patience, support and constructive criticism, describing public engagement as essential to strengthening democratic governance.
He called on residents of Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo Local Government Areas to remain united and focus on initiatives that promote the collective interest and development of the constituency.
According to him, the future of Enone should be built on the principles of unity, accountability, sustainable development and people-centred leadership.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Aluh said Agbese remains grateful for the confidence reposed in him and is committed to delivering greater dividends of democracy.
“As we look towards 2027, Dr. Agbese remains humbled by the trust of our people. The best way to repay that trust is not with words, but with more work, greater impact and deeper dedication to the people he represents,” he stated.
He also urged community leaders, youths, women and other stakeholders across the constituency to continue participating actively in the democratic process while placing the collective interest of Enone above partisan considerations.
Aluh concluded that the true measure of political representation lies in its impact on the lives of the people, stressing that the journey of public service must remain focused on expanding opportunities and accelerating development across the constituency.
