CNN International has appointed British-born Nigerian journalist Adefemi Akinsanya as the host of its new multiplatform feature series, Africa Inc., a programme dedicated to highlighting African businesses making an impact on the global stage.
The new series will spotlight companies across the continent that are driving innovation and growth in sectors including technology, hospitality, manufacturing, and entertainment, showcasing how African enterprises are competing and thriving internationally.
Akinsanya will be based in Lagos, where he will lead the programme’s coverage of business, entrepreneurship, and economic transformation across Africa.
Reacting to his appointment, Akinsanya expressed excitement about joining CNN at a time when Africa’s global profile continues to rise.
“I’m thrilled to be joining CNN to launch Africa Inc. at such an exciting time for Africa’s international story. Across the continent, we’re seeing innovation, resilience, and ambition transforming industries and creating opportunities with global impact. According to CNN International, Africa Inc. aims to tell compelling stories of African businesses that are redefining industries, creating jobs, and attracting international investment while contributing to the continent’s economic development.
The programme will feature in-depth reports, interviews with business leaders, and stories of innovation that demonstrate Africa’s growing influence in the global economy.
Segments of Africa Inc. began airing on August 5, while the first 30-minute edition of the programme is scheduled to premiere on CNN International on August 29.
The launch of the new series reflects increasing international interest in Africa’s business landscape and the growing recognition of the continent as a hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic opportunity.
