Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov has signed a new five-year contract to remain at the Premier League club.
The 22-year-old agreed the new deal on Saturday after an impressive first full season at the Etihad Stadium.
Khusanov Extends City Stay
Khusanov joined Manchester City from French side Lens in January 2025. He quickly became an important member of the squad.
Last season, he helped City win the FA Cup and the League Cup. The club also finished second in the Premier League.
The Uzbekistan international has made 30 appearances for his country. He also played in all three of Uzbekistan’s Group K matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Khusanov said he was delighted to continue his career at Manchester City.
“This is a great day for me and my family. I am really happy to extend my stay at City,” he said.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute since I arrived in Manchester. I feel I am growing and learning a lot as a player.”
Defender Targets Regular Starting Role
The centre-back said he now wants to earn a regular place under new manager Enzo Maresca.
“I have a new challenge now, which is to impress Enzo Maresca and his staff,” Khusanov said.
“I want to become a regular in the team, and I am determined to achieve that.”
Meanwhile, Manchester City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, praised the defender’s progress.
“We’ve been really pleased with Abdukodir’s development since he arrived in England,” Viana said.
“He is becoming an outstanding defender. We believe his best years are still ahead of him.”
Khusanov is the second Manchester City player to commit his future to the club this week. Earlier, England forward Phil Foden also signed a new long-term contract.
