The four-day conference, organised by the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education, began on Monday, July 6, and will run until July 9, 2026, at the Haruna Kadir Rashid Hall of Gombe State University.
The conference is themed, “Reinventing Educational Foundations in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” and has attracted participants from across Nigeria and other countries.
Declaring the conference open, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta said Artificial Intelligence is transforming teaching, learning, research, and educational administration worldwide.
He stressed that universities must embrace technological innovation while maintaining the core values of quality education, critical thinking, academic integrity, and ethical responsibility.
In her welcome address, Dr Habiba Isah welcomed participants from within and outside Nigeria. She thanked the university management, the organising committee, and stakeholders for supporting the successful hosting of the institution’s first conference on AI in education.
The keynote address was delivered on behalf of Professor Abubakar Ibrahim Njodi by Idris Baba Yambiu. The keynote focused on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in transforming education and preparing learners for the demands of an increasingly digital world.
The opening ceremony also featured goodwill messages, award presentations, cultural performances, and lead paper presentations by Professor Oluwasanumi O. Adepoju and Dr Binta Abba.
