Napoli have confirmed that Antonio Conte has left his role as head coach after two seasons at the club.
The Serie A runners-up announced on Thursday that both parties agreed to end their contract early.
In a statement, Napoli thanked Conte and his coaching staff for their work during his time at the club.
“We would like to thank the coach and his backroom team for their excellent work. We wish them all the best for the future,” the club said.
Conte guided Napoli to the Serie A title in the 2024/25 season. His success helped restore the club’s status among Italy’s top teams.
The 56-year-old now looks set for a return to international football. Reports link him with the vacant Italy national team job.
Conte previously coached Italy from 2014 to 2016. During that period, he led the team to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016. Germany knocked Italy out on penalties.
Meanwhile, Napoli have started the search for a new manager. Former Juventus and AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has emerged as the leading candidate.
Italian media reports say Napoli and Allegri are in advanced talks. The club hopes to complete the appointment before the start of the new season.
Allegri recently left AC Milan after the club failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. If Napoli appoint him, he will aim to build on Conte’s success and challenge for more trophies.
