Grammy winning Nigerian singer Wizkid has revealed that his love for Nigerian cuisine cost him between $300 and $400 every day while he lived in the United States.
Speaking in a recent interview, the Afrobeats superstar said he struggled to adapt to life in America because he could not easily access the local dishes he grew up eating. As a result, he regularly spent hundreds of dollars each day just to enjoy Nigerian meals.
“I only eat Nigerian food everywhere I go. I got bored staying in the USA for two years because I wasn’t getting Nigerian food as much as I wanted,” Wizkid said. He added that he spent between $300 and $400 every single day during that period just to satisfy his craving for Nigerian dishes.
Despite his global fame and luxury lifestyle, the singer insisted that his taste has never changed.
“I’m a local boy. Forget all this Louis Vuitton, Gucci stuff. I love what I love. You can take the boy out of the ghetto, but you cannot take the ghetto out of the boy,” he said.
