The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, on Sunday met behind closed doors with Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Senator Rufai Hanga of the Nigeria Development Congress (NDC).
The meeting took place as political parties intensified consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yilwatda disclosed the meeting in a statement on his verified X account saying the discussions focused on peace, unity and development in Kano State.
He also described Hanga as one of the leading figures of the NDC in Kano.
Yilwatda said the leaders held frank and constructive discussions on the future of Kano.
“I had the pleasure of meeting with the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, alongside Senator Rufai Hanga, one of the foremost leaders of the NDC in Kano State,” he wrote.
“Our engagement centred on the unity and continued progress of Kano State.”
He added that political leaders must continue to build consensus and strengthen democracy through dialogue.
According to him, Nigeria will make greater progress when leaders put the interests of citizens above partisan differences.
Neither Yilwatda, Barau nor Hanga disclosed the details of their discussions.
