Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has warned about a growing culture of blind loyalty and lack of integrity among Nigeria’s political leaders.

He criticized members of the National Assembly, especially in the Senate and House of Representatives, for praising leaders instead of giving honest advice. According to him, lawmakers must speak the truth to power, not agree with everything their leaders say.

Sanusi expressed disappointment in some government officials. He said many fail to act responsibly. Leadership, he added, should focus on accountability and sound judgment, not personal gain.

He also stressed that governors and other leaders must rise above the pursuit of wealth. When money becomes the main motivation, governance suffers and citizens’ needs are ignored.

Sanusi highlighted a lack of strong values among many Nigerian leaders. He said they are often easily influenced and lack the principles needed for real change.

He concluded by emphasizing that Nigeria’s progress depends on leaders guided by integrity, courage, and a true commitment to the people rather than personal benefit.
