The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has asked Muslims across the Kingdom to observe the Shawwal crescent on Wednesday evening, March 18, 2026, which corresponds to 29 Ramadan 1447 AH.

The sighting of the crescent moon will mark the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid al-Fitr.

The court urged anyone who sees the moon, with the naked eye or binoculars, to report it to the nearest court.

Observers should also register their testimony officially so authorities can confirm the start of Shawwal.

Once confirmed, the sighting will signal the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid celebrations for Muslims worldwide.

Muslims usually mark the festival with special prayers, charity and family gatherings.

The court also prayed that Allah accepts the fasting and good deeds of Muslims and allows them to celebrate Eid in peace and joy.
