The Federal Government has filed a three-count charge against former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over allegations of unlawfully intercepting phone communications belonging to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
According to the charge, the Federal Government accused El-Rufai of illegally accessing and intercepting confidential telephone conversations involving the NSA without lawful authority. The alleged act is said to contravene provisions of Nigeria’s cybercrime and telecommunications laws, which prohibit unauthorized surveillance and breach of privacy.
Details of the charge sheet indicate that the government is seeking legal action against the former governor, marking a significant development in the ongoing scrutiny of public officials over alleged abuse of office and security breaches. However, further proceedings and official responses from El-Rufai or his legal representatives are still awaited as the matter proceeds in court.
