The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Command has arrested a driver and seized 64 bags of cannabis hidden in a cement-filled trailer.

The trailer, carrying Dangote cement, left Obajana in Kogi State and was headed to Mubi, Adamawa State, when officers stopped it along the Zaria–Kano road on 2 February 2026. The driver is now in the custody of the NDLEA while investigations continue.

NDLEA Kano Commander, D.Y. Lawal, said the seizure came from careful intelligence work. He explained the drugs were meant to be sold in Kano, likely before Ramadan, and stressed that drug traffickers would not be allowed to harm communities.

Following instructions from NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa, the agency will increase patrols, strengthen checkpoints, and continue intelligence-led operations. Investigations are ongoing to catch everyone involved in the drug network.

The NDLEA also urged the public to report any suspicious activity to help fight drug trafficking and keep communities safe, especially during religious periods.
