The Nigeria Police Force has successfully repatriated $23,000 to a victim of an international online romance scam in the Cayman Islands.
The recovery and repatriation were carried out by the INTERPOL National Central Bureau, NCB, Abuja.

Police said the action followed a request from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service seeking assistance to investigate a Nigerian suspect.
The suspect, identified as Achufusi Obioma Ikenna, allegedly defrauded a Cayman Islands resident through an online romance scheme.
INTERPOL NCB Abuja conducted intelligence-led investigations that led to the suspect’s arrest and the recovery of the funds.
After completing required documentation, authorities handed over the recovered money to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
The handover took place through the British High Commission in Abuja, represented by Shaun McLeary.
Police said the funds would be securely delivered to the victim in the Cayman Islands.
Investigations into the case are ongoing, and the suspect will be arraigned upon completion of inquiries.
The Nigeria Police Force said the operation reflects its commitment to international cooperation and combating transnational cybercrime.
Authorities reaffirmed their resolve to recover criminal proceeds and ensure offenders face justice.
