Troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded fresh successes in ongoing operations against terrorists and bandits across Zamfara State, neutralising a terrorist, arresting several suspects and disrupting criminal networks.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operations were conducted in different parts of the state between June 5 and June 6, 2026.
On June 5, troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA on a fighting patrol to Birnin Tsaba and Tsanu villages in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area engaged terrorists at Birnin Tsaba village. Following a gun battle, one terrorist was neutralised while seven motorcycles were recovered.
The following day, troops responded to a terrorist attack at Anguwar Sarkin Musulmi village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. The troops confronted the attackers, forcing them to flee into nearby bushes.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the terrorists had stolen personal belongings from residents before security forces arrived. Military authorities said the incident reflected the increasing pressure being mounted on terrorist groups through sustained operations across the North-West.
Also on June 6, troops responded to reports of an attack on commuters along the Kaura Namoda-Zurmi Road. Investigations showed that terrorists had ambushed two civilian vehicles between Jabanda and Dauran villages in Zurmi Local Government Area.
Troops secured the area, evacuated injured victims for medical attention and commenced efforts to track down the attackers and rescue any passengers who may have been abducted.
In a separate operation, troops conducting a fighting patrol in Tudun Wada and Dan Gulbi communities of Maru Local Government Area arrested eight suspected bandits at Tudun Wada.
Items recovered from the suspects included seven motorcycles, communication equipment, mobile phones, power banks and military-style uniforms. Troops also destroyed a structure allegedly used by the suspects.
Meanwhile, troops arrested a suspected recipient of recently intercepted ammunition at Tupa village in Shinkafi Local Government Area following intelligence-led operations. The suspect is currently in custody and assisting investigators.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorists and bandits across the North-West and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
