Shettima Urges Troops to Intensify Anti-Terror War

Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged the Nigerian military to sustain ongoing offensives against terrorists and other criminal elements threatening national security across the country.

Shettima made the call during a visit to troops under Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri, Borno State, where he commended the armed forces for their sacrifices and commitment in the fight against insurgency.

The Vice President said the federal government remains fully committed to supporting the military with the resources and welfare needed to win the war against terrorism.

He noted that recent gains recorded against insurgents must be consolidated through continuous operations and stronger collaboration among security agencies.

According to him, the military has demonstrated courage and patriotism in difficult conditions, stressing that Nigerians appreciate the efforts being made to restore peace and stability, particularly in the North-East.

Shettima also assured troops that President Bola Tinubu’s administration would continue prioritising security and improving the welfare of personnel serving in frontline operations.

The Vice President further encouraged the troops not to relent, insisting that defeating terrorism requires persistence, discipline and national unity.

Military commanders present during the visit briefed the Vice President on ongoing operations, challenges and achievements recorded in the counterinsurgency campaign.

Operation Hadin Kai has remained at the forefront of Nigeria’s war against Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents in the North-East region.
