Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Brazilian winger Sávio from Manchester City in a deal worth £75 million, with a further £10 million available in potential add-ons.

The 22-year-old joins Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham rebuild and takes the club’s summer spending beyond £300 million.

Sávio made 84 appearances for Manchester City, scoring seven goals and providing 16 assists.
The winger says he had Tottenham on his radar long before the transfer became a reality.

“Whenever I came to play against Spurs, I always talked to my representatives about the club,” Sávio said. “When he said the club was interested in me, I was very happy.”

The Brazilian also highlighted De Zerbi’s influence on his decision to move to north London.

“It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here. It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world,” he said.

“As soon as I spoke to De Zerbi I knew I had to come.”

De Zerbi sees Sávio as a creative force who can bring energy, courage, pace and width to Tottenham’s attack.

The Brazilian’s arrival adds to a busy summer at Spurs, with the club also signing players such as Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes as De Zerbi reshapes his squad.

Sávio now has the chance to become a key figure in Tottenham’s new era, while the club will hope his creativity and attacking output justify the significant investment.
