A Professor of Special Education at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Professor Hassana Darma, has translated the popular Islamic book Ideal Muslimah into the Hausa language to make its teachings more accessible to Hausa-speaking readers.
The Hausa version, titled Musulma Ta Gari, was officially launched during a monthly seminar organized by the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) at Bayero University, Kano.
The original book was written in Arabic by Dr. Muhammad Ali Al-Hashimi and was later translated into English by Nasiruddin Al-Khattab. The new Hausa translation is aimed at bringing the message of the book closer to more readers, especially those who prefer learning in their native language.
Speaking on the importance of the translation, Professor Darma said translating important Islamic works into Hausa would help improve access to knowledge and encourage more people to benefit from valuable religious literature.
The book, Ideal Muslimah, focuses on the character, responsibilities, and values expected of a Muslim woman, including issues related to faith, family, social relationships, and personal development.
Participants at the launch commended the effort, describing it as a significant contribution to Islamic scholarship and the promotion of Hausa language literature.
The translation adds to the growing number of Islamic books being made available in Hausa, a language widely spoken across Northern Nigeria and parts of West Africa.
