Angry Mob burn suspected

Three individuals suspected of involvement in the killing of a traditional ruler in Langtang North, Plateau State, have reportedly been set ablaze by an angry mob, in an incident that has heightened tension in the area.

The suspects were allegedly linked to the murder of the late Ponzhi Kwallak, the traditional ruler of Kwallak community, who was attacked and killed at his residence on Thursday night. According to reports, gunmen stormed his home, shot him, and fled with his motorcycle and mobile phone.

Sources within the community said the monarch’s killing threw residents into mourning and sparked outrage across the locality.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the three suspects were later apprehended by locals while allegedly attempting to sell the stolen motorcycle. They were said to have confessed to the crime after being captured.

However, efforts by some residents to hand the suspects over to security operatives reportedly failed, as a group of hoodlums intervened, overpowered those holding them, and seized the suspects.

The mob subsequently set the three individuals ablaze near the Langtang North Local Government Council Secretariat.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the suspects were captured by locals and allegedly admitted to the crime before the mob carried out the act.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation from security agencies regarding the incident.
