The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Gombe State, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has assured youths and women in the state of greater access to employment opportunities, capital and other forms of support if elected governor.
Gwamna made the pledge on Sunday while commissioning the One North Movement, APC Gombe State Chapter, where he said his administration would prioritise economic empowerment and create an enabling environment for young people and women to thrive.
“I have become a guarantor for our youths and women in Gombe State. I will ensure that our young people and women get employment opportunities, access to capital and the necessary support to become independent and self-reliant,” Gwamna said.
He also promised to create an environment where residents could establish and operate businesses while pursuing legitimate means of livelihood.
“My administration will support you to succeed, because when our youths and women are economically empowered, Gombe State will be stronger and more prosperous,” he added.
Gwamna urged members and supporters of the One North Movement to prepare for extensive grassroots mobilisation across the state, saying the exercise would intensify once the APC officially commences its campaign.
He described the APC as the dominant political platform in Gombe State and expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in the forthcoming elections.
The APC candidate also highlighted what he described as the achievements of APC administrations at the federal and state levels, particularly under Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
According to him, various projects and interventions implemented by the administrations have impacted residents and contributed to the development of the state.
Gwamna called on APC supporters to remain united and focused as they take the party’s message of development, empowerment and good governance to communities across Gombe State.
The event also featured the flag-off of fertiliser distribution to about 200 young people and women farmers. The initiative was facilitated by the One North Movement as part of efforts to support agricultural livelihoods and economic empowerment.
