The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) has trained young people in peace advocacy and conflict prevention.

The training took place under the institute’s Renewed Hope Agenda for Young Peace Builders.

The programme aims to equip young people with skills for promoting peace in their communities. It also seeks to encourage youth participation in conflict prevention and peacebuilding.

The participants learned about peace advocacy, conflict prevention and peacebuilding. The training encouraged them to take active roles in promoting peaceful communities.

Speaking at the programme, Mr Olusola stressed the importance of guiding young people on the responsible use of social media.

He said young people have a strong influence on public conversations through digital platforms. He urged them to use that influence to share accurate information and promote peace.

Olusola also called for greater attention to how young people receive and share information online. He said responsible social media use can help reduce the spread of misinformation.

The training encouraged participants to verify information before sharing it. It also urged them to use social media to promote tolerance, dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

The young peace builders programme seeks to develop a new generation of peace advocates. These young people can support conflict prevention efforts in their communities.

The initiative also highlights the growing role of young people in peacebuilding. Through advocacy and responsible digital engagement, they can help create a culture of peace.
