Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC) has confirmed the abduction of two of its staff members in Ogun State, raising fresh concerns about safety in the region.
The company disclosed the incident in a statement released on Monday in Ibadan, Oyo State. IBEDC said the abduction occurred on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, while the employees carried out their official duties in the Ogun region.
IBEDC expressed deep concern over the development and acknowledged the distress faced by the victims’ families and colleagues.
The company said it has placed priority on securing the safe return of the abducted workers and continues to intensify efforts to achieve that objective.
According to the statement, IBEDC has partnered with relevant security agencies and maintains close coordination with them to track the perpetrators and secure the victims’ release.
The company also confirmed that it keeps in constant contact with the affected families and provides necessary support during this period.
IBEDC urged the public to remain calm and patient as operations continue, emphasized the sensitive nature of the situation and declined to disclose further details that could disrupt ongoing rescue efforts.
The incident highlights ongoing security challenges across parts of Nigeria, where abductions continue to disrupt business activities and threaten worker safety.
IBEDC reaffirmed its commitment to employee welfare and stated that it will review and strengthen its security measures to prevent similar incidents.
