Two officers of the Nigeria Customs Service have been killed following an attack by suspected Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi State.
The incident reportedly occurred in Tuga community in Bagudu Local Government Area of the state during a confrontation between the armed men and security operatives. Reports indicated that the attackers stormed the area and opened fire on the officers, leading to the death of the two Customs personnel.
Security sources linked the attack to suspected members of the Lakurawa group, which has been associated with a series of violent attacks across parts of northwestern Nigeria.
The latest killings have heightened concerns over worsening insecurity in border communities within Kebbi State, particularly in Bagudu and surrounding areas where security operatives have repeatedly come under attack.
Authorities are yet to release the identities of the slain officers as of the time of filing this report.
Security operatives have reportedly intensified surveillance in the affected area following the incident.
