GRV Outlines 2027 Lagos Governorship Strategy Without Obi

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State, says he will contest the 2027 election without relying on Peter Obi or the Obidient movement.

He and Obi ran together in 2023 under the Labour Party, where the Obidient movement boosted their performance. Both later joined the ADC, but internal litigations pushed Obi to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Rhodes-Vivour chose to remain in the ADC and continue building his base.

In an interview, he explained his approach: “By doing the work.” He noted that his political profile and grassroots structure have grown since 2023. He highlighted his presence in communities affected by demolitions, where he stood with residents and offered alternatives. Rhodes-Vivour argued that Lagos politics requires a broad coalition across generations, tribes, and experiences, and said the ADC has built that coalition.

He expressed confidence that grassroots work and coalition politics will deliver results in 2027. Strategy, not emotion, guides his decisions, and he believes this will produce a strong outing in the election.
