The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, approved the holiday to honour the hard work and dedication of Nigerian workers. The announcement came through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani.
The government praised workers for their strong role in building the nation and driving economic growth. It noted that their efforts remain key to Nigeria’s development.
Tunji Ojo encouraged workers to stay focused, committed, and patriotic in their duties. He said the government will continue to improve workers’ welfare and create better opportunities for growth.
He also urged Nigerians to remain peaceful and follow the law during the holiday. According to him, unity, discipline, and hard work are important values that can move the country forward.
Workers’ Day, also known as International Workers’ Day, is marked every year to recognise the contributions of workers and promote fair labour practices.
As Nigerians prepare for the holiday, the government says it remains committed to policies that support workers and strengthen the economy.
