Arsenal F.C. moved closer to winning the Premier League after a 1-0 victory over Burnley F.C. on Monday.
Kai Havertz scored the only goal in the first half at the Emirates Stadium. The win pushed Arsenal five points clear at the top of the table.
Mikel Arteta’s side can now win the title if Manchester City F.C. fail to beat Bournemouth on Tuesday. Arsenal can also secure the trophy with a win against Crystal Palace F.C. on Sunday.
Arsenal started strongly and created early chances. Leandro Trossard hit the post, while Bukayo Saka saw his penalty appeal turned down.
Havertz broke the deadlock in the 37th minute. He rose highest to head home Saka’s corner kick. Arsenal have now scored 18 league goals from corners this season.
Burnley made life difficult for the home side despite already suffering relegation. Arsenal also escaped a major setback in the second half when Havertz avoided a red card after a late tackle on Lesley Ugochukwu.
Arteta later replaced the German forward with Viktor Gyokeres. However, Arsenal failed to add another goal before full-time.
The Gunners stayed solid at the back and recorded another clean sheet. They have not conceded in their last four league matches since losing to Manchester City last month.
