A Federal High Court in Ibadan has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention held on November 15, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The court also barred Kabiru Turaki and others from presenting themselves as national officers of the party.
The judgment followed ongoing leadership disputes within the party, which have resulted in competing factions and legal battles over the PDP’s national leadership structure.
The convention, tagged #Ibadan2025, held at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan, and attracted thousands of party delegates, leaders, and supporters.
Despite internal disagreements and earlier legal challenges, the party proceeded with the two-day elective convention, which produced a factional leadership.
Reacting to the ruling, the PDP, in a statement posted on its official X handle by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said the party is awaiting the final decision of the appellate courts.
The party urged members to remain calm and committed, insisting that there is “absolutely no cause for alarm.”
The statement maintained that the Kabiru Turaki–led PDP, which emerged from the Ibadan Convention, remains intact pending the outcome of the appeal process.
The case is expected to proceed to the appellate courts, where a final determination on the party’s leadership dispute will be made.
