The Executive Chairman of Gombe Local Government Council and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Gombe State, Professor Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa, has launched the distribution of educational materials to schools across the local government area.
The initiative, which attracted pupils, teachers, parents and community leaders, involves the distribution of school chairs, textbooks, exercise books, uniforms and other essential learning materials.
The programme is aimed at improving learning conditions, supporting pupils from different backgrounds and strengthening access to quality education across Gombe Local Government Area.

Thousands of residents, including pupils from various primary schools, reportedly turned out for the official launch, expressing support for the educational intervention.
The initiative is also expected to ease the financial burden on parents, encourage school attendance and provide pupils with essential resources to support their academic development.
The intervention aligns with the education priorities of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration, which has emphasised investment in education and human capital development across Gombe State.
The distribution also highlights the role of collaboration between state and local government authorities in implementing programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
Through the initiative, the Gombe Local Government administration says it is reinforcing its commitment to education as a key driver of sustainable development and the future of the younger generation.
