The singer said he does not want young people to feel pressured or inadequate when they compare their lives with his success.
Speaking in an interview with Jam FM, the 26-year-old musician noted that many young people look up to him. Their admiration, he explained, makes him mindful of how he presents his lifestyle online.
Rema Wants Young People to Grow at Their Own Pace
Rema said some fans dream of achieving the same level of success as him. As a result, he tries not to make them feel bad about their personal progress.
“A lot of young people look up to me, whether they are my fans or not. I have something they want or dream of, so I do my best not to make anyone feel bad about themselves or feel pressured,” he said.
The singer stressed that everyone has their own timeline for success. He warned that comparing achievements can push young people to rush their growth.
“Everybody has their time, but some people just want to rush it because they see their fellow young person doing well,” Rema stated.
Although some people have advised him not to worry about how others interpret his lifestyle, he remains concerned about young people who may feel pressured by what they see online.
Singer Highlights Pressure from Parents
Beyond social media, Rema pointed to parental expectations as another source of pressure on young people.
He said some parents compare their children with others and push them towards careers they may not enjoy. Consequently, many young people study courses they dislike because their parents want them to secure well-paying jobs.
“I just care about the kids who are under pressure. Parents do that as well. Parents compare a lot. Parents put a lot of kids under pressure,” he said.
The singer’s comments highlight how comparisons and expectations can affect young people’s decisions about education, careers and personal development.
Rema Prefers a Simple Lifestyle
Rema also explained that he prefers simple clothing rather than relying heavily on expensive designer brands.
He said streetwear appeals to him because it allows him to maintain a modest look. However, the singer admitted that his jewellery and watches remain some of the more luxurious parts of his appearance.
Through his comments, Rema emphasized the importance of allowing young people to pursue success at their own pace. He hopes to avoid adding to the pressure they may already face from social media, family expectations and comparisons with their peers.
