Brighton and Hove Albion have reached an agreement with Millwall to sign Nigerian international Femi Azeez in a deal worth more than £15 million.
An initial fee of £12.5 million will go to Millwall, while the overall package could rise beyond £15 million. Should the deal reach that figure, it would become the Championship club’s record sale, overtaking Romain Esse’s £14 million move to Crystal Palace last year.
Ahead of the proposed deadline-day transfer, the 25-year-old will travel to Brighton for his medical.
A four-year contract awaits him at the south-coast club, with an option for another year.
Millwall brought Azeez in from Reading for around £1 million in August 2024, meaning the club could make a substantial profit after just two years. Despite having two years left on his contract, his impressive form has attracted Premier League interest.
Playing in England’s top flight has remained a major ambition for the Nigerian, who prioritised Brighton over other interested clubs.
Last season proved particularly productive as he scored 11 goals and supplied seven assists in the Championship. Those numbers helped earn him a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Season for 2025-26.
For Brighton, the move adds a proven Championship performer to their attacking options, For Azeez, it offers the chance to finally showcase his talent on the Premier League stage.
