Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan has reached the women’s 100m hurdles final at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games after a dominant performance in the heats.
The two-time Commonwealth champion won her heat in 12.19 seconds. She finished well ahead of South Africa’s Marione Fourie, who clocked 12.50 seconds, while Jamaica’s Kerrica Hill came third in 12.69 seconds.
The time was the fastest ever recorded in a Commonwealth Games women’s 100m hurdles race. However, officials cannot recognise it as a Games record because a +3.8 metres per second tailwind exceeded the legal limit for record purposes.
Amusan, the world record holder with an official best of 12.12 seconds, looked calm and confident throughout the race. She controlled the contest from the start and never looked under pressure.
The Nigerian star will return to the track later today for the final as she chases a historic third consecutive Commonwealth Games title in the event.
Another gold medal would further cement her place among the world’s greatest sprint hurdlers.
Amusan’s performance has also boosted Team Nigeria’s campaign in Glasgow. The country has already celebrated several medal-winning performances.
Fans will now hope the sprint queen can deliver another memorable victory and add to Nigeria’s growing medal tally.
