Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is expected to file a “no case submission” in response to allegations linked to an alleged wiretapping case involving the Department of State Services (DSS). The development comes after the DSS formally closed its case in the matter, signaling the end of its prosecution phase.

According to the report, El-Rufai’s legal team is preparing to argue that the evidence presented by the DSS is insufficient to warrant him entering a defence. The defence is expected to maintain that the prosecution has not established a prima facie case strong enough to proceed further in court.

The case, which has drawn public attention due to its political implications, revolves around claims of unlawful surveillance. With the DSS concluding its presentation, the matter now shifts to the court’s consideration of the no case submission, which could determine whether the former governor will be required to open his defence or have the case dismissed outright.
