IGP Orders More Security Around Katsina Schools

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed the Katsina State Police Command to strengthen security around schools across the state amid concerns over the safety of students and educational institutions. (Peoples Gazette Nigeria)

The directive was conveyed by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Sulaiman Abdul, during a two-day operational visit to Katsina, where he assessed security arrangements at selected schools. (Peoples Gazette Nigeria)

The police authorities ordered increased patrols, improved intelligence gathering and stronger police presence around schools to prevent criminal activities and create a safer environment for learning. (Peoples Gazette Nigeria)

During the inspection tour, Abdul visited the Police Children School and the Government Girls Technical and Commercial College in Charanchi Local Government Area, where he assessed security structures including perimeter fencing, access control points, security posts and personnel deployment. The move comes amid broader efforts by authorities in Katsina to improve protection for schools following rising concerns over insecurity affecting educational institutions in parts of northern Nigeria.
